Margrit Kennedy and Bernard Lietaer received the swedish award called
“Utstickarpris” for their work on the monetary system. The jury stated
reasons for their decision:
“With respect for humankind as well
as nature, Margrit Kennedy and Bernard Lietaer courageously question
something fundamental to our society: how our monetary system works. For
decades, they have consistently challenged us to rethink money – so
that money encourages earth stewardship and investment that sustainably
enriches communities. Margrit Kennedy and Bernard Lietaer are brave
enough to go their own way. They inspire the rest of us to think in new
ways about how to create a society that is good for people and
productive economy that works with the planet’s boundaries.”
Utstickarpris was donated by Polarbröd.
Polarbröd is a family business with centuries-old traditions in northern bread culture. During the 39 years the company has existed, it has grown from a small family bakery to Sweden’s third largest producer of bread, with approximately 405 employees.
